It’s Not Just Cricket

This summer, Lord’s is ditching its title as the “Home of Cricket” in favour of the far more appealing monicker of ”Best beer garden in the city”, as the more exciting and fast-paced Twenty20 season of Cricket looks set to draw in the less hardcore fans looking to soak up the sun and the atmosphere.
Oh, and the beer.
The first Friends Life t20 Cup match of the summer is on Thursday 9th June, starting at 6.15pm, when Middlesex Panthers take on Essex Eagles. Gates open at 4.45pm and spectators can enjoy special food and drink promotions between 5pm and 6pm. There will also be live music and entertainment before the match starts. There are more chances to see Middlesex in action on the 16th of June and the 7th of July, as they take on Sussex and Surrey, respectively.
Tickets are priced at just £20 for adults and £5 for under 16s. Packages for stags include prime seating, match programme, scorecard, three course rolling buffet and selected beer, wine and soft drinks. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit www.lords.org/t20.
You can also get hitched at Lord’s if you fancy – for more information, see the Staggered Suppliers Map.
Don’t know about you, but any talk of “Willow and leather” gets me thinking of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oh my, yes.
If You Don’t Have an iPad…
Banish all thoughts of Apple’s horrendous current telly campaign, because we’ve got some good news for you.
Wedding photographer David Charlwood has responded to rising demand from couples for electronic copies of their images by offering an iPad preloaded with their files as an alternative to the standard photo album.
With the average professional album of hard-copy prints costing anything upwards of £400, the iPad at £550 is a great alternative to the more tech-savvy couple who might be used to sharing their own digital photos via social networking sites and even printing their own photographs at home.
The best news is that David is offering Staggered readers 20% off the iPad when they book his services at www.charlwoodphotography.com quoting our exclusive promo code StagPad20. Don’t say we never did nuthin’ for ya.
Shoddy to Shwing
It’s no secret that women like shoes and it’s even less of a secret that walking in high heels hurts a bit. Because of all the whingeing. Ahem.
If you’re dreading the thought of breaking in those new patent leathers for your wedding, spare a thought for your missus, who probably picked the shoes that looked the nicest, made her look taller and put the most strain on her ankles.
Earn yourself some brownie points by getting her favourite old shoes a bit of a wedding makeover with the help of www.icanmakeshoes.com who provide a bespoke reupholstering service.
I wanted to call this bit “shoddy to shod”, but the editor warned me it might put me in the doghouse my missus, as he reckons women don’t appreciate being compared with horses. Another brownie point tip for you there.
Dave News
Are you reading this Dave? You’re getting married to Sarah on the 6th of August, right? Are you feeling slightly unnerved by Staggered’s psychic prowess?
Well fear not, for you are merely a statistical probability, according to a survey by www.confetti.co.uk whose findings indicate these to be the most popular names for bride and groom and the most popular wedding date this year.
However, we do know that you’re currently enjoying your first dippy egg and soldiers in four years and last week’s Watchdog on sky+. We’re watching you, David.

I’ve been to Lord’s, where I attempted to eat as many scones as I could without scaring the other attendees.
It has been suggested to me that an “engagement iPad” might be preferable to a ring. Not all women like jewellery, believe it or not.
The shoe place doesn’t currently do men’s shoes, but I bet if there was enough demand…
