Give us the inside story on your bachelor party

Our two days of activities spanned urban zones in New York City and Newark, New Jersey. At different parts of the weekend our group ranged from a faithful eight, up to twenty fellas from my past and present. Highlights included our big steak, scotch, and cigar night at a local cigar bar in Harlem, Portugese fare in Newark, NJ, and visits to a few establishments where the scantily clad women were very friendly. It was great to see this group of guys from all parts of my life bond and become a cohesive unit that tore the town a new one.

Tell us about the venue.

We were married at the Castle Club (an open air mansion in the rolling hills above Cabarete, Dominican Republic).

What did the men wear on the day?

I’m a deal hunter (a.k.a. cheap bastard) but I like to look good and especially so on the big day. I wanted the groomsmen and my father to have suits they could be proud to wear after our wedding day but I didn’t want them to have to spend an arm and a leg. All of the groomsmen’s wears were bought online and at a great price. We all wore the same tan two button Baroni peak lapel suits from ebay, white trim fit luxury 140′s spread collar shirts by Paul Frederick, sage vests for the groomsmen and an ivory vest for me by Cardi Collection from Buy4LessTuxedo.com and brown patterned socks from Walmart. I gave each groomsman color guidelines for the shoes. I rocked Enrico Carni shoes, handcrafted in Italy. All of the groomsmen’s hair was shampooed, conditioned, and styled using Frederick Benjamin grooming products.

What three pieces of advice would you give to guys who are still on the other side of planning their weddings?

1. Purchase three gifts, one each for your wife, your future mother-in-law, and your mother, because they are all emotionally invested and deserve a token to show you’re thinking of them.

2. Host at least one pre-wedding event open to all of your guests so that you can get face time with them before the wedding. This will take pressure off you and your bride feeling that you have to spend time with all of your guests at the reception. You’ll actually have time to eat and enjoy the reception.

3. Remember to carry your bride over the threshold on your wedding night. I forgot to do so and I still hear about it to this day.

A word for the lady, come on, give it up for your bride!

Destination weddings are not easy to pull off because not only do you have to coordinate your wedding, you have to coordinate the activities and movements of your guests over the course of several days. Nadia is my rock and it was primarily her planning and attention to detail that allowed our wedding to not only go off without a hitch, but made our wedding the best vacation most of our guests ever had.

The final word from Staggered

Alex, you economised without compromising, made the most of your last night of freedom and rocked your own style on the big day. To top it off you and your new wife kicked off a great partnership by bringing everything together to make your big day perfect. A man after our own heart in every way – we salute you!

Congratulations!
