The World’s First 3D Wedding?

Move over, Avatar – one Scottish couple has taken their wedding day video to the next dimension. What’s thought tohttp://www.flickr.com/photos/behind-the-lense/ be the world’s first wedding filmed in 3D has taken place in Edinburgh.

Romantic groom, Hamish, managed to keep the surprise under wraps and didn’t tell his missus what was going on until halfway through their Big Day. Six high-definition cameras, operated by two of Hamish’s colleagues, filmed the wedding ceremony at Currie Kirk earlier this month. Hamish admitted to the The Scotsman that there were “a few questions from guests asking what the big cameras were for”.

No prizes for guessing that Hamish works in the media industry. Hamish is head honcho at Leith-based company, Freakworks, which produces and edits commercials and corporate work, and also just so happens to be the first production company in Scotland to offer 3D production and editing facilities.

It’s certainly one way to heap on some extra pressure to look and sound great on the special day. There’ll be no hiding from unforgiving wedding attire or lacklustre wedding speeches, that’s for sure.

Before they shout ‘action’, gen up with our guide to looking good on your wedding video.

What’s your take (geddit?) on wedding videos? Are they an unnecessary expense or unmissable opportunity? Tell the forum your thinking.
