Sort The Ring – Diamond Prices Predicted To Soar

It’s par for the course to dither over buying that all-important sparkler, but here’s a compelling reason to get it sorted sooner rather than later – diamonds might be about to get even pricier.

Online jewellers Diamond Manufacturers are warning that double-digit growth in rough diamond prices could send jewellery prices through the roof. Since March last year, prices have risen by 55-60%, partly because many suppliers cut production by up to 50% as a result of the credit crunch.

Adrie van der Luijt of Diamond Manufacturers predicts that “it’s only a matter of time before the price of polished diamonds will significantly increase.” Fortunately, as an online business, the company has lower overheads than many high street competitors, who are, Adrie explains, “literally stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to passing on price increases to the consumer.”

It’s almost certainly going to be the most expensive bit of wedding attire you’ll have to fork out for, so push your shopping tolerance to the limit and look around before buying engagement rings UK.
