Groomzilla alert – men get interested in weddings
Move over, Bridezilla – Groomzilla’s in town and he’s kicking wedding planning butt! Thanks to the Internet, more
grooms than ever before are tackling the beast that we call wedding planning.
A large-scale survey from tourism and hospitality directory, iknow-uk, has discovered that blokes are defying their reputation for being disinterested in the finer details of arranging their nuptials (wedding attire, wedding speeches and stag do ideas aside).
Boldly, 85% of respondents claimed to be even more organised than their Mrs. Most used the Internet as a booking source and reckoned that going online easily halved the planning time. In fact, half admitted that they had a real battle on their hands just to get the bride to relinquish any control of the master plans. Bang goes the theory that blokes ain’t bovvered about weddings, then.
Marcus Simmons, iknow-uk’s managing director and self-confessed Groomzilla, reflects: “It seems that after so many generations, men are finally stepping up to the plate and organising their own weddings… the rise of online bookings means that men are happy to take the lead, as they can make most of the arrangements without even leaving the front of the TV!”
If you’re a Groomzilla in training or debating whether to come out, Marcus reassures us that: “Organising a wedding doesn’t have to be a headache. We have a wide choice of unique suppliers and venues on our websites… some even arrange the whole event for you – including a honeymoon.”
Are you a rampaging Groomzilla or happy to take a back seat? Does the Mrs appreciate your input or demand complete control? Tell us how it’s going on the forum.
