Worcester Couple Get Married in Mud

Fancy getting down and dirty during your wedding ceremony? One mucky British couple did exactly that when they tied the knot in a New Zealand mud pool.http://www.flickr.com/photos/dittmars/2527962444/

Neil McLean and Tabitha Luke from Worcester exchanged their vows in a hot pool of mud at Hell’s Gate and Waiora Spa, an acclaimed Rotorua tourist attraction which offers a thermal park, hot springs, Maori culture and a mud spa.

The six-minute wedding ceremony took place on March 16th and ended traditionally with an exchange of rings, followed by the not-so-traditional smothering of mud. According to Tabitha, it felt “absolutely great…like a hot bath.”

It’s certainly an earthy approach to nuptials with some obvious fringe benefits. For starters, you’ll both end up with great skin. You’ll also spare yourselves and your guests a long, boring ceremony. Better still, there’s no need to spend oodles of time and money sorting out wedding suits and the other garb. Just grab a sarong and some shorts (who wears what is entirely up to you) and you’re ready to go. And it’d be rude not to grab some bridesmaids for a quick wrestle in the mud, whilst you’re at it.
