Real Grooms: Dave Billsborough
This week’s groom Dave has some brilliant stag do advice, some even brillianter stag do stories and a near-miss on some brownie points with Mrs Billsborough. Plus a camper van!
Brilliant photography, bursting with life, by Lawson Photography.
Name: David Kenneth Billsborough
Age: 28
Bride’s Name: Emma
Best Men: Simon Shaw, Andy Moynihan, Ste Ingham.
Ushers: Neil Hardy, Ste Hardy, Andy Taylor
Where was your stag do – any scars?
Butlins, Bognor Regis. We had a different fancy dress theme for each of the three days; day one: camp builders, day two: made up super heroes, day three: Lady Gaga tribute!
The lads left me dressed as a baby and handcuffed to a lamppost, with nothing but a packed lunch and a colouring book! 11 hours of train journeys later I arrived home.
My usher Neil had his stag do last month and I got my own back, firstly shooting at him a lot during naked paint ball and secondly leaving him dressed as a mental patient handcuffed to an IV pole with a drip full of Ribena. We paid for a ticket on the big wheel in Weston-Super-Mare and drove off.
Where did you get married?
At a small parish church in St Michaels, Much Hoole and the evening do was at Rivington Hall Barn, Rivington.
What did the men wear on the day?
What three pieces of advice would you give to blokes going through the whole wedding thing now?
1. Have your stag do at a Butlins. All the bars are in one place, and you can get away with anything!
2. Leave half an hour between each thing that’s happening on the day; then it doesn’t feel like everything’s crammed in and the day seems longer and more relaxed.
3. Have a laugh! Emma picked the music for the wedding, and I sneaked in a verse of Elvis Presley singing Suspicious Minds whilst we were signing the register. Oh, and if i can have a 4th, have your plumber make the wedding cake – well good, cheers Andy!
A word for the lady, come on, say something emotional about your bride…
She has nice teeth!
She’s sat right next to me saying I cant write just that. The question is something, not everything (although I would probably give the same answer!)
She’s the most perfectest person ever made.
Staggered says:
The fun atmosphere of the day leaps out of these pictures and it’s clear that Dave has put a lot of his personality into the proceedings. Plus some brilliant advice on the stag do – you don’t have to jet off to Riga to have a great time, you just need your mates and a good old British holiday camp. We were a little bit worried for Dave when he started complimenting Emma’s admittedly lovely teeth, but we think he pulled it back with aplomb in the end and the other thing that leaps out of these pictures is a deep and lasting friendship – the cornerstone of all great marriages.
Congratulations!

I love these camper vans. If you’re a car rental place and you do these I demand you add yourself to the supplier map.
Great looking day and fab images! Love the camper van and speeches :)
