Lowther Lodge, originally built as a private home for Alice and William Lowther MP, has been the headquarters of the Society since 1913.  Designed by Richard Norman Shaw, the building is one of the finest examples of 19th Century architecture in London, built in the ‘Queen Anne’ style. With the largest privately owned collection in the world, The Royal Geographical Society can produce displays of artifacts and maps tailored to the couple – including maps of where the couple met, or their honeymoon destination!

Actors John Sharian (Spooks, The Machinist, CSI: Miami) and Tara Fitzgerald (Brassed Off, Waking the Dead, Jane Eyre) were married here.

Wedding licence: Yes, wedding ceremonies can take place in the large main hall
