Staggered’s 2010: The Bestest Bits
It’s been another cracking year at Staggered HQ, thanks to our awesome contributors, so picking out our favourite bits was no mean feat. We’re always up for a challenge, however, and so we persevered and compiled *Staggered’s Best Bits of 2010* for your delectation.
Big names
Back in April, the legend that is Dave Spikey (that’s Dave Spikey, the Double British Comedy Award Winner, Royal Television Society winner and BAFTA nominee) joined the team and pledged to help Staggered readers make their wedding speeches funny in his column. We also bagsied a much sought after pre-election Nick Clegg interview (sorry, studenty types) in which he waxed lyrical about marriage, mastering wedding speeches and why Rauceby station will always be a special place. But not tuition fees. Sorry.
World domination
Our bid for world wedding domination continued apace in October with the launch of Staggered USA. It’s every bit as fantabulous as its British bro, but with funny phrases like ‘bachelor party’.
Top planning tools
To help you along with the dreaded wedding planning, Staggered launched a nifty, interactive Suppliers Map (which has since attracted 1 million hits, no less) with accompanying video explaining how it all works. We also launched our awesome Staggered Shop, offering the very best in stag do novelties. Last but not least, our email subscriptions hit a whopping 23,000, so clearly the word is spreading. Thank you all.
Bloggers extraordinaire
Our bloggers surpassed themselves this year and Staggered salutes them. Fancy a taster? Of course you do. Tim Evans accused Prince William of plundering his wedding ideas, Joel set an unsuspecting wedding magazine ablaze, Tiernan talked wedding guest lists, Keith bigged up Bournemouth stag dos Mick bemoaned his ruined proposal, Chris pondered proposing at gunpoint and Pete tackled the thorny issue of choosing a best man.
Meanwhile, from the laydeez’ corner, Alena talked tipsy brides and wedding tattoos, Laura introduced her wedding spreadsheet of doom, and Helen flashed her undies to brave a boudoir photography session. Finally, the two Dans (Dan Sweryt and Dan Anderson) took the plunge and got hitched – not to each other, though.
Cracking competitions
We gave away a bumper crop of prizes to you lucky punters this year, from casino nights and snowy stag dos to digital cameras and posh suits. And oodles of beer. The award for the Most Memorable Comp has to go to our infamous Rude Cakes competition (NSFW).Our readers entered into the spirit of things with gusto, that’s for sure. Here’s the winning entry (snigger).
Cross-dressing
Team Staggered embraced the opportunity to unleash their inner transvestites and donned bridal frocks for Brides at Work Day on September 17th. Don’t click on the link if you’re of a sensitive disposition btw. Oh, too late? Sorry about that. We’re not a bunch of deviants – it was all for charridee.
