Real Grooms: Ian Slade
It’s our last Real Groom of 2010, so we’re going out with a bang. There’s motors, Amsterdam and stately homes for y’all to gawp at, plus some awesome photos from Lenzflair Photography.
Your Name: Ian Slade
Bride’s name: Joanne Slade (née Adams)
Best man and ushers: Dean and Ben (best men) Chris and Paul (ushers)
Where did you get married?
Thrumpton Hall, Nottingham, on a gorgeous sunny day in the stately home and grounds
Where was your stag do – any scars?
Stag do venue: Amsterdam with the boys.
Scars: I only achieved two out of the three challenges that Jo had set for me…
What did the men wear on the day?
Men wore charcoal grey tails, ivory waistcoats, black shoes and beaming grins
What advice would you give to other blokes going through the whole wedding thing now?
1. Make the day your own; invite the people you really want to be there to make your day special
2. Take time out in your day to spend with your wife. Go off for a drive after the ceremony – just the two of you – to reflect on the day
3. Wedding speeches – try and target or involve someone on each table to involve all the guests
4. Relax, have fun and bring your own personality into the day. Ours was informal and fun with lots of humour at all stages
A word for the lady, come on, say something emotional about your bride…
Well what can I say? When she finally appeared – there are moments in your life you know you will never forget – it was like everything was in slow motion. She looked so beautiful.

There’s some great advice here from Ian – we especially rate the post-ceremony drive idea. It’s your day so you’re allowed a quick breather from all of the schmoozing. Congratulations to the happy couple!
