Real Grooms: Derren Nisbet

This week’s real groom is Derren, who (man after Staggered’s own heart) made sure to stamp his own style on his big day by selecting his own suit and having his groomsmen do the same – though presumably they had a pow-wow about the ties…
Captured here alongside his lovely bride Georgina, with photography by the lovely Rachel Spivey.

Name: Derren Nisbet

Age: 41

Bride’s Name: Georgina Mellor

Best Man: Matthew Dale

Ushers: David Ward, Stuart Chamberlain

Where did you get married? Walton hall, near Stratford

Where was your stag-do – any scars?

We went to Berlin, no visible scars!

What did the men wear on the day?

My understanding is that traditionally the men did not dress the same, so I asked everyone to wear what they liked.
I bought them each a tie from Thomas Pink and my best man and ushers Ray-Bans.
I wore a suit made for me by Udeshi of Davies Street, London.

What three pieces of advice would you give to other blokes going through the whole wedding thing now?

  1. Choose what you wear yourself - it’s your wedding day too, so put your foot down and you decide what you’re wearing.
  2. Type your speech – it’s easier to read then and you won’t forget anything (I missed the scrap of paper thanking my bride!)
  3. Everything probably won’t go to plan. Accept that it won’t and don’t get stressed about it.

A word for the lady, come on, say something emotional about your bride…

She stole the show, she looked sensational – everyone and everything else on the day paled into insignificance.

Staggered says:

Derren and Georgina, you look right at home in these picturesque surroundings, and we salute you for living your style and for making the day your own. Congratulations!
