Real Grooms: Adam Lancaster

Here’s real groom Adam getting hitched to his Jackie in the unseasonal sunshine of Mallorca. Strutting the sunny streets with his stags, you can almost hear ‘Little Green Bag’ playing in the background, thanks to some super cool photography by the rather fantastic Marianne Ford.

Name: Adam James Lancaster

Age: 30

Bride’s name: Jackie

Best Man: Marc Lancaster (brother)

Where did you get married?

Portals Nous, Mallorca. (We live in Mallorca).

Where was your stag do – any scars?

Unfortunately Magaluf. It was all organised by a group of friends in Mallorca, luckily before my family arrived. We had a few drinks in various bars before I was forced to ride one of those mechanical bulls (the operator and my mates had great fun turning up the speed to repeatedly throw me off) followed by a trip to a lap-dancing club, where I was stripped and whipped (all in the name of fun, though for me not so much!) which left me with a stupid amount of bruising and welts on my back and torso – it was a grin and bear it situation!

What did the men wear on the day?

I wore a dark burgundy Ben Sherman ‘Camden fit’ suit from Savile Row, with a silver skinny tie, white shirt and black shoes. The best man, usher, pageboy and both dads wore grey slim fit suits from Next, skinny hot pink ties, white shirts and black shoes.

What three pieces of advice would you give to blokes going through the whole wedding thing now?

1. Organise a meet & greet just before the day of the wedding so all the guests know each other, and hopefully avoid those uncomfortable silences!

2. By all means delegate tasks, but then check, and double check, everything; it’s your day and it’s only going to happen once!

3. It sounds boring but decide on a budget and ‘try’ sticking to it; it’s so easy to spend a bit here and a bit there and before you know it those little bits have become huge!

A word for the lady, come on, say something emotional about your bride…

Absolutely, I’m not afraid to say, when Jackie walked down the aisle I burst into tears. She looked absolutely beautiful (as I knew she would). I had no idea what type of dress she was going to wear, what her hair and makeup would look like, but it was amazing! I wouldn’t have changed anything!

Staggered says:

We were ready for a bit of sun after weeks of snowbound photo shoots, so thanks to Adam and Jackie for giving some inspiration to all our readers looking to marry abroad. Adam; great advice, and it can’t remain unsaid: great socks.
