Ticking Things Off

For this post I just wanted to give you a roundup of all the goings-on in our little wedding world:

Cake

checklist

Checking twice is optional - unless you are fat, old, and have a penchant for mince pies

For the longest time we thought we had this sorted – limited budget, known amount of people, simple designs all had us pointed firmly at a wedding cake from Marks & Spencer (we had previous experience of eating these, so we knew they were lush). However, now that the wedding styling is coming together, we felt that we wanted something more personal. I’m very excited as we’ve found an ace cake designer to do it.

Food

We’ve done a food tasting evening at the venue, Nonsuch Mansion. All I can say is that the standard of their catering is staggeringly awesome. We’ve decided to base our menu around the first meals we made for each other when we started dating, and I’m very excited to see what menu ideas the catering team come up with.

Stag-Do

My Brother has been briefed and I am trying to sort out a list of potential attendees for him to go and sort things out. I’m quite nervous about this whole thing so I think I’ll be following this up with its own post in the future.

Suits

My fallback is going to be hiring from somewhere like Moss Bros, as all my groomsmen are in random locations around the country. However, I really want something more unique, stylish and personal to me. I’m doing some research and looking into how much pocket money I can save for myself to do this!

Honeymoon

We bit the bullet and booked a holiday. We think we got a good deal, and I know in an ideal world we would have probably chosen somewhere with bags more personality. However I am proud we have been pragmatic as well as romantic and we’ll see how it goes when we jet off in August.

All in all I think, 6 months ahead of the wedding, that we’ve got 90% of our suppliers covered, details organised and maybe, just maybe, we can actually move onto enjoying the process again, and relish the opportunity in picking the details to match our style. As a project manager this is going to be my favourite part, as things come together.
