This App Could Save Your Stag-Do

With the best will in the world, life doesn’t always go according to plan. Even the most dedicated planners of the mightiesthttp://www.flickr.com/photos/williamhook/ stag weekends can come a cropper when carefully selected bars, restaurants and other ingenious stag do ideas close down without warning or turn out to be irretrievably naff.

So, what’s a best man to do when the unthinkable happens and the stag party’s left high and dry without a beer in sight? Turn to travel maestro, TripAdvisor, that’s what. It’s just announced the launch of the new TripAdvisor iPhone application, which is now available via Apple’s App Store.

Replacing Local Picks, this free application uses the iPhone’s GPS capabilities to enable travellers to search for popular hotels, restaurants and attractions and, helpfully, you can sort all your findings by ratings, price and distance.

Since travellers send in fresh reviews whilst they’re still on the road, you can rest assured that the info will be as current as you can possibly get. Which means you can chill out and let the party go with the flow, man. Sorted.

As a fairly regular traveller, I can’t recommend TripAdvisor more. They are becoming more commercial, i.e. you can’t move on the site for being offered cheap flights to somewhere, but their forums are the best there is. Get this and the Lonely Planet pocket guide and you’re laughing.
