The Best New Flights To Eastern Europe
Fact – planning stag weekends is a tough gig. Don’t go wasting the weekend on yet more research – Saturday’s meant to
be a scorcher. Instead, cast your eyes over our terribly helpful round-up of this summer’s new routes to Eastern Europe (subject to further volcanic spewing, of course).
If the Bulgarian coast with its cheap grub, plentiful bars and sunny climes has clinched a place on your stag do ideas shortlist, take note that both Thomson and Thomas Cook have added flights to the Black Sea resort of Burgas from East Midlands Airport, with the latter also offering a route from Newcastle.
Quick’n’easy access to the numerous bars and clubs along Croatia’s Adriatic coast is now a reality, thanks to budget airline favourite, bmibaby, and its new summer service between Dubrovnik and East Midlands Airport, which operates on Thursdays and Sundays from May 30th. Rival, easyJet, is launching routes from Stansted Airport to Dubrovnik and Split (Croatia’s second largest city and a nightlife hub) in mid-May. In the unlikely event that you’re seeking somewhere more sedate, be advised that Thomson flies between Bristol Airport and Pula from May 4th to October 10th.
For an authentic stag experience, don’t rule out Ukraine International Airlines (UIA). A fourth Boeing 737-800 is due to enter service this month, helping to flesh out the summer schedule. Forget any stereotypes you may be harbouring – these beauties are state-of-the art aircraft, boasting the latest in navigation equipment and CFM 56-7B26 engines. In addition to its daily Gatwick Airport to Kiev service, a timetabling re-jig means that British travellers will have an easier time connecting with UIA’s onward flights to Tbilisi in Georgia, and Ukraine’s Lvov and Odessa.
