Meet New Groom Blogger Jim
So here goes, my heart’s pounding. It’s been building up to this moment and I cant stall it any longer. There’s nothing else for it so… I press send and my blog is on its way to Staggered! Compared to writing this blog the proposal was the easy part!
As Staggered’s latest blogger I guess I should introduce myself, seeing as we will hopefully be spending a lot of quality time together. My name is Jim Barnett, I’m a 29, soon to be 30 year old lawyer in the City who spends far too much time on my PS3 and supporting Spurs – and if you’re still reading the blog after that then kudos to you.
My only other entry on the World Wide Web was an online football tournament years ago where I was destroyed by the eventual winner – here’s hoping my next entry on the web is a bit more successful…
My significant other is Joanna Debney, who’s 28 and works for a live tour promotions company and who knows all too well how much time I waste on my PS3 and supporting Spurs. We’ve been together for 5 years, 3 months and a few days and have been engaged for just over 6 eventful weeks. We met through that tried and tested method – mutual friends who said that we’d both be ‘perfect’ for each other. Thankfully they were right and the rest is history.
So why am I writing on Staggered? Two reasons: The first being that I suspect my friends are probably all bored to tears of hearing me talk about whether to go for the duck confit or parma ham for the starter. The second being that Joanna thinks I’m studying and not on my PS3 which pleases her no end.
So over the next 18 months – blimey, that seems like a long time – I’ll be guiding you through the minefield of the pitfalls, problems and resolutions involved in planning a wedding. There’ll be tears, tantrums and tiaras and that’s just from one of the Groomsmen! Each blog will deal with the latest step in planning the wedding – from buying the ring and the proposal, to hunting for the best venue and how to feign interest in even the worst venues to the most important decision of all – the best man.
In my next blog I’ll talk about buying the ring and the proposal. So here’s to the future and to your company on the long road ahead.
P.S. – I’ll try my best not to sound like Carrie Bradshaw in any blog.
P.P.S Myself and the next Mrs B are on twitter – follows us, go on you know you want to @jimmy_boy81 and @blondiejo83
