So says the latest figures released from the International Currency Exchange (ICE), which has calculated a 4.31% year-on-year increase in the value of the pound against the Euro. It notes that exchange rates in Croatia or Bulgaria are particularly favourable.

According to Joanna Williams, the ICE’s head of marketing, “The strengthening pound means Brits will get around 24 Euros extra in their pocket when exchanging £500…Croatia and Bulgaria are really giving the traditional European hotspots a run for their money.”

If you prefer ice cream to calculus, the ICE has created the ICE Lickometer to reveal the cost of an ice cream in key holiday hotspots. According to the Lickometer, Varna and Burgas in Bulgaria offer the best deal at just 59 pence. An ice cream in Riga costs about 60 pence and in Dubrovnik, Brits would pay a trifling 71 pence. This compares with a not very sweet £1.86 in Amsterdam and anything up to £2.94 in Paris. So if you want more licks for your lolly, head East.
