A Walk in the Park

Ok, a bit of a mish-mash post here, as there’s a few updates, and more importantly I have to hit a minimum word cap else the Ed shoots me in the kneecaps.

Hayfever, Clouds and Smiles

I designed that ring. I rock.

More and more photographers these days now offer some sort of photography before the wedding. Often called a pre-wedding shoot, engagement shoot, or studio session, they are a great chance for you to get used to your photographer, as well as more importantly get used to being photographed so that on your big day you can try and be as natural as possible for any posed or semi-posed shots.

So, out I went with Sharon and brollies in tow to Nonsuch Park to meet our wedding photographer, the rather marvellous Mark Columbus (check him out on the Suppliers Map). For days in advance Sharon and I had been keeping our eyes glued to every weather service we could find, whilst offering up prayers, mantras and I think there was indeed at least 30 seconds when I seriously considered morris dancing some kind of reverse rain dance in order to appease whatever bloody powers would listen so as not to piss over my day out.

As luck would have it, something thankfully listened and we managed to catch a break in the rain for our morning session. Apparently a lot of couples choose a place that is either close to them, important to them (or both!) for their shoot. We decided to go to the Park in which our actual venue is situated. It is close to our home, so it did feel that criteria, and it allowed us to go and introduce Mark to the venue’s team as well as giving him the opportunity to familiarise himself with the house and grounds.

The actual photos we took mostly in the main park itself, so they would be varied from the actual wedding photos, but we did pick a nice spot in the corner of the venue’s grounds in order to take a series of pictures that we are actually going to use on the tables – this is an idea I can’t recommend enough – if you have an adventurous an creative photographer, then you should feel comfortable with passing ideas past them. After all, you have paid for the session: if it means you can get professional quality pictures for use on the big day then you should make the most out of it!

Freak Out

I am coming to accept the fact that I am a Groomzilla. Over the weekend I got an email bounce-back from my contact at Suitopia. I then immediately proceeded to convince myself that she had left the business without telling me, and all my requirements and ideas for my suit had been lost and I was going to have to start from scratch, and probably would also be charged twice as much whilst a plague beset the town and my testicles shrivelled up into ornamental walnuts.

As it happened it was just an email glitch and I panicked over nothing. I then spend a good couple of hours sending grovelling emails to all the people that I had sent emergency emails out to in order to enact contingency plan Alpha Charlie 9’er. Apparently the Coast Guard have taken me off of their Christmas card list.

Operation Wedding Fit

As of my weigh-in today, I am down to 18 stone, 4 pounds – that’s a total loss of 1 stone 9 pounds since I started doing Weight Watchers ProPoints online seven weeks ago, and is 4 stone 4 pounds since I started on my weight loss campaign March last year. To put this into some kind of context for you, here is a picture of me from December 2009 and one from today. Don’t worry – it’s just my face this time, I know you are all indelibly scarred from my last photo of my body!

Before & After

Still a way to go...

I noticed the old pic the other day and have to say I’m actually quite proud of myself. I think there may be a slim (groan) chance that I may actually attend my wedding looking and feeling like myself. Perhaps for the first time in a very, very long time.
