    • 9 ct yellow gold9ct yellow gold is a metal alloy which contains: 37.5% gold, 52.1% copper zinc and 10.4% silver. It's hardwearing but lighter in colour than 18ct yellow gold. It is the cheaper of the two choices. Excellent if you are on a budget.
    • 9 ct white gold9ct white gold is a metal alloy which contains: 37.5% gold, 4.9% palladium and 57.6% silver. It's more hardwearing than 18ct yellow gold. It is the cheaper of the two choices. Excellent if you are on a budget. It will probably need rhodium plating to give a good white finish. White gold is naturally a yellowy-cream colour and is often rhodium-plated. Plating usually lasts around 3-5 years.
    • 18 ct yellow gold18ct yellow gold is a metal alloy which contains: 75% gold, 16% copper and 9% silver. It is a beautiful rich yellow colour. The metal is softer than 9ct gold, but a more popular choice due to the colour and higher gold content. The softness would only really be an issue if the piece was to be worn against a harder metal such as 9ct gold.
    • 18 ct white gold18ct white gold is a metal alloy which contains: 75% gold, 3% palladium and 22% silver. The metal is softer than 9ct gold, but a more popular choice due to the higher gold content. The softness would only really be an issue if the piece was to be worn against a harder metal such as 9ct gold, platinum or palladium. It will probably need rhodium plating to give a good white finish. White gold is naturally a yellowy cream colour and is often rhodium-plated. Plating usually lasts around 3-5 years.
    • PalladiumPalladium, is a metal alloy which contains: 95% Palladium, 5% Gallium & Copper. Palladium is a white metal from the platinum family. It doesn't tarnish or require rhodium plating. It is also hypoallergenic. It is lighter in weight and slightly softer than platinum but it is almost half the price. Palladium is an excellent alternative to 18ct white gold or for someone looking for a larger piece that would be too heavy in platinum.
    • PlatinumPlatinum is made up of approximately 95% pure platinum and 5% copper. This is the hardest of all metal choices. Its a white metal that doesn't tarnish or need plating. It is also hypoallergenic. Platinum is the heaviest of the precious metals which could be a consideration if ordering a large piece or if you are not used to wearing jewellery all the time. Platinum is also the rarest and most expensive of all the precious metals.
