I have been given my own suit but would like to accessorise it, has anyone got any suggestions?

Cool – what sort of suit is it and what sort of look are you hoping for? That makes quite a bit of difference.

Just as a general option I always like the suits that have a message or date stitched into the lining. Then you've got a whole gamut of options about messing with buttons, cuffs, pockets, etc. Any good tailor would be able to make those sort of adjustments for you.

Depends how different you want to be, if you want the 'normal' accessories then have a look at My Tuxedo Smile

Hi Daniel – we'll give you a freebie and not change that link to one of your competitors, but don't spam the boards or we'll hunt you down and fornicate in your shoes. And I'm not even sure what that means.

I have just bought a wing collar shirt, cravat, waistcoat and hanky. I think its nice to wear something different from the usual shirt and tie.

If I were wearing a morning suit I would probably wear a top hat, but that is up to personal taste I think.

Morning suit, waistcoat, cravat all good – Moss Bros do a pretty good range (and they're cheaper than those tuxedo people).

However, I think a top hat might be a bit much these days.

I put one on during our suit fitting, and me and the best man were still laughing about it an hour later in the pub.

You might think you look cool and rakish in a Dickensian steampunk kind-of way, but the chances are you just look like a 30's banker.

Cane?

Scott Disick (of Kardashians fame) had a go at trying to bring the cane back. Sadly his over the top bravura made him and it, by association, look twattish.

You may recall that Anthony Michael Hall rocked a cane in The Dead Zone tv series. That ended up being a bit shit though.

In summary, forget I spoke.

Dr House has a cane, and he's pretty cool. But he also kind-of needs it to walk. Which is really the only acceptable time to carry one.

Unless it's got a sword hidden in it, of course Laugh

Pocket squares are cool and discrete. Cufflinks too. Anything more overt is probably going to look silly and become a pain to carry.
