Youtubery: The Five Funniest Wedding Ads

Sometimes you’ve just go to hand it to those modern day Mad Men, the Nathan Barley idiot savants, who can come up with such gems as those below. A doff of the cap to the advertising men and women who can use the hallowed sanctity of marriage to sell us men what we really want, in a way we can truly understand and better still – enjoy.

5. Budweiser

We love beer. And we love blokes. Blokes are funny. And blokes who’ve had a beer or two? Even funnier. Except when you’re getting married and the funny bloke in question is your best man. This ad is pure comic gold, with a script of which Will Ferrell himself would be proud. It’s funny because it’s true.

4. Nomad Mobile

Getting a mobile phone is a bit like getting married. Or so French firm Nomad would have us believe. So try before you buy and don’t get tied in to a long contract. Wise words when you see what befalls this self-satisfied, smug young buck. Thankfully he’s got exactly what he deserves – a 24 month contract with 3.

3. Underdaks

Some things we can learn from this ad for Underdaks. One – don’t have an Aussie for a best man, especially not a ginger-bearded one (not that we needed an ad to tell us that). Two – underpants with a pocket aren’t actually really that great of an idea. I mean what’s it for exactly, your penis’s wallet, phone and keys? Three – Antipodean priests are perhaps not altogether disapproving of same-sex relationships…

2. Trojan Condoms

All’s well that ends well in this beautifully poised ad for the condoms we Brits still don’t really trust as much as Durex. It’s like a modern day version of a medieval morality play, only advertising prophylactics.

1. Quikcash

But the very best wedding-related ad we found was this flawlessly paced and composed Thai number. It’s in Thai, it’s not subtitled, but it doesn’t matter – perfection is universal. Watch, and enjoy.
