Why Robbie Williams Proposal Was All Wrong

Ok, seriously, Robbie, we expect better of you, but then really what can you expect from a Port Vale (*spits*) fan? In case you missed it, this is Robbie surprising his delightful girlfriend Ayda Field live on Sydney’s 2DAYFM radio station:

So where did he go wrong?

For a start you’ve got to think about the setting. Sitting in the recording booth of a local radio station with people crying “OMG! This is amazing for ratings!” isn’t the sort of memory you want to fix in your mind forever. Her comment “this is so awkward” sound a little too genuine for our liking.

Next up it’s what you say. You don’t need a Gladiator-style speech (although that’s going to impress her) but a mumbled, “will you marry me baby” is just crying out for a NO. He has another bash at it later with “I love you so much. Would you be my betrothed until the end of time?” – over-compensating for his earlier fluff.

Finally, the ring Rob, the ring. You’ve emphasised how little forethought has gone into it by not even having a placeholder ring in your pocket, so you’ve ended up sealing the deal with a plastic frog ring. And forever will she stare at it and wonder how many times she’ll have to kiss that frog before it finally turns into a prince who can propose properly.

It needn’t be a military operation gents but a little planning for your proposal is in order…
