Where To Propose In Holland

Andrew Shanahan Aug 2009 One Comment Bookmark or Share

You may think of Holland as more of a destination for stag and hen-dos than you would for an engagement weekend, but the Dutch have plenty of romantic places squeezed away in between all those tulips and Edam (-5 points for gross stereotyping).

If you’re planning to propose the best thing is that getting there is dirt cheap, so you can spend a bit more on the all-important ring. And let’s face it, if she says no, that’s when you head to Amsterdam for the consolation of cannabis and women who can peel bananas in innovative ways (- 10 points).

So where in Holland could you propose? We rounded up 10 of the best…

1. During a candle-lit dinner cruise on the canals of Amsterdam

Amsterdam boasts more than 100 kilometres of canals with more than 1,500 monumental buildings all offering excellent impressions of the Dutch Golden Age along the way. Remember to print out this fact and share it with your Lady, women love being buttered up with trivia. Enjoy a leisurely, romantic candle-lit dinner cruise cruising along the canals and wow her with all the bridges which are lit up at night to finish off the idyllic setting.
