Toby Luper Sorts Your Style Questions

My best man is very clumsy and forgetful. I am looking at hiring morning suits for the wedding day. I am worried that I am going to hire a fantastic suit for him for the wedding day and he is either going to destroy it or lose part of it. Do you have any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be get rid of your best man and definitely don’t hire the suits! What could be worse than wearing a suit that had been worn by someone else and may not have been cleaned properly after. Yuck!

Have you thought of matching suits for the best man and groomsmen? Obviously this is a matter of budget or the groomsmen’s pockets. At Hemingway we have made lots of suits for wedding parties and we give a substantial discount on the cost of the suits if four or more are ordered and fitted at each session.

Our made to measure prices start at £550.00 and we have a sophisticated clientele including sportsmen and celebrities who have been suitably (excuse the pun) impressed with our convenient visiting tailor service and quality which we deliver both here in the UK and internationally.

I am getting married abroad and I am worried about transporting the wedding party suits on the plane. What is the best way for the suits to travel so they don’t end up all crumpled on arrival?

Ensure that the suit is in a suit bag. Leave the jacket on the hanger and put tissue paper in the arms and shoulders. If your suitcase is large enough lay the jacket out in full on top. If the suitcase doesn’t allow for this, fold the jacket in half and lay flat.

Once you get to the hotel, if the suit has become creased hang it in the bathroom and the steam from the shower should allow the creases to fall out by the following morning. Failing that, most good hotels have a pressing service.

If I was your tailor I would also advise on the appropriate fabric which best suited the climate and your wedding theme and would travel well.

If you have a style crisis and need Toby’s help drop us an email at iamstaggered AT gmail.com and we’ll put it to him.
