Take Sanctuary From Wedding Fair Nightmares
Here at Staggered we’re friends of the new, so when the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners told us they had plans to revolutionise the wedding fair, we asked them to explain themselves. Here’s what they had to say…

Okay men, we’ve all been there; dragged around countless wedding fairs, pushed into tight corridors crammed with wedding wares, given the hard sell by several different people who all seem to be offering the exact same thing, and just when you are about to hit your absolute quota (or the bar) you’re promised that ‘this is absolutely the last one darling, I am 110% super-duper positive that our dream florist will be at this one’.
Yippee.
Enter a new style of wedding fair. The clever folks at the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners are hosting ‘The Wedding Sanctuary’ – an advice led show to be held at London’s Somerset House on Sunday 20th March.
Yes, there will be the obligatory trend-led dining table designs, but these ones will state on them how much it will actually cost to re-produce, meaning your Mrs-to-be won’t be falling in love with a look without realising you’d need a second mortgage to fund it.
And yes, there will be a style boudoir, where mademoiselle can chat with the crème de la crème of dress designers Sassi Holford, bespoke shoe makers Emmy and personal style teams Katrina Choat and Elle au Naturel – none of whom you’ll have heard of or will care about, but rest assured; she’ll love it and while she’s busy with that, you can get on with getting things done.
You can avoid the hassle of sifting through the hard sell of each and every photographer, caterer and entertainer there and trying to figure out which of them is offering the best deal, as the Alliance have hand picked the best from each sector for you.
Photographer Julia Boggio, Table Talk Catering and entertainment agency Sternberg Clarke will all be on hand to actually help you with your planning woes by answering any questions you might have.
Alternatively, grab any one of the Alliance’s wedding planners that will be on site and grill them on how to make sure your wedding makes the best of ‘The Year of the Groom’. Get yourself some insider knowledge from talks on ‘How to plan your wedding budget’, ‘How to plan the timing of the day’ and ‘How to get the best from your suppliers’. The talks will be brief and followed by an opportunity to pose specific questions to the experts.
If nothing else, you can always grab a canapé or two, a glass of champagne and a goody bag – after all, free stuff is what all weddings fairs are really about right?
