Stag-Do Hotels Get Posher
Traditionally, the stag do hotel has been a bit, well, basic. Not any more, though. Today’s grooms are far more refined, yes indeedy. A brand, spanking new survey from leading stag do organizer, DesignaVenture, has revealed that over 60% of stags opt for 3 or 4-star hotels instead of group and/or bargain basement accommodation.
Don't try the breakfast...
“A city centre location for stag parties has always been an important factor and that is where most high end hotels are located,” says Anna Makin, DesignaVenture Operations Manager. “We always put it to our clients that if they pay an extra £10 per night they will get a city centre location, a plusher hotel, a better breakfast and more importantly, not pay the £15 cab fare to get them back to their out of town cheap hotel from the nightlife.”
One reason for this shift is that the reputation of stag weekends is evolving. Whilst some are still unashamedly riotous (and we’re very relieved to hear that), more hoteliers are recognising that most modern stag parties – especially those organised by reputable operators – are a great source of revenue. Which means that weary stags are being offered a better class of accommodation to stagger back to.
“These days most stag parties are made up of different generations including fathers, uncles and even the father-in-law,” says Anna. “For that reason a better hotel will always be preferred, so our advice to anyone booking their stag do is to think outside of the box when booking your next stag do; cheap is not always cheaper.”
