Leo Bancroft Talks Wedding Hair

If you’re thinking about sorting out your hair prior to a wedding you need to take it seriously and do a bit of planning, because you don’t want to be the groom who goes to the salon on the day of his wedding and ends up getting a disaster cut.

Give me nine haircuts, simultaneously!

We asked Southern Hairdresser of the Year Leo Bancroft, from the aptly named Leo Bancroft Salon, for some men’s wedding hair advice. This is his top five thoughts about your barnet:

1) Ask your stylist for styling and product advice a couple of haircuts before the big day so you can use the product and feel comfortable with the way it feels and works in your hair.

2) Have your last hair cut one week before the wedding to allow your hair to settle in. This also gives you time to pop back in to the salon just before, if it needs a tweak.

3) Thinking about colour? Avoid permanent colour and go for natural glossing/semi permanent colour to blend greys and give you a truly natural looking colour, one week before the wedding. A tide line is not a good look on any day!

4) Thinning hair? Avoid high gloss wax as this will separate the hair and make it look finer, also the shine will give you glare in your pics and the missus might not be happy. Opt for matt paste and puttys for a better finish.

5) On the day book in for a traditional wet shave (it might be worth trying it a few weeks before as well to make sure it doesn’t bring you out in a rash), it feels amazing and will make your skin look super fresh and healthy. Got stubble? Keep it clipped and ask your stylist to shape it for you.
