Gift Idea: The Perfect Personalised Wedding Present
Long gone are the days when a toaster would suffice as a wedding present. If you’re buying a gift for someone who really matters, you’re going to have to up your game.
Without a doubt, the simplest way to bestow greatness upon an everyday wedding present is personalisation. A bespoke, individual gift that involves some degree of personalisation always gives the impression that you’ve given the matter a great deal of thought. The ladies in particular are always hugely impressed by this, take it from us.
Now we’re not suggesting for a moment that you hit Toys R Us for some paints and attempt to write the happy couple’s name around a dinner plate. It’s best to leave the artistic endeavours to those blessed with raw talent. Happily, Staggered has stumbled upon what could well be the perfect bespoke wedding present for the groom, bride, best man, father of the bride, or any key player in the wedding party, come to think of it.
Coulson Macleod is an achingly hip company that produces über cool and contemporary, limited edition typographic art prints. It offers a personalisation service based on these three best-selling prints from the Love Collection (see photo). Of course, there is one part of the process that requires you to use the old grey matter – the exact words on the print are for you to decide. You might want to include some words from a favourite poem if your recipient is of a literary mindset, or perhaps there’s an infamous joke that you’ve all shared. Famous love quotations are also popular, as are meaningful lyrics from favourite songs. Once you’ve chosen the right number of words and sentences that you want to incorporate into your artwork, Coulson does all of the rest, crafting for you a one-off piece of bespoke artwork that’s entirely unique.
Here’s the small print: these hand-made, vintage style prints are mounted in an oak frame, measure 55cm x 55cm x 8cm and cost £199.00. (The free UK delivery might help to soften the blow). The canvas will be printed using pigmented inks that are UV stable and sealed with UV protecting varnish. Just like a happy marriage, if looked after correctly, it will last in excess of 75 years.
Coulson Macleod has only been in business a matter of months, and yet its customers already include the CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide, no less, and they’ve been featured in Elle Decoration UK, Weddings Unveiled and Design*Sponge (ask the Mrs). Check out their testimonials page and you’ll see how leading designers are raving about Coulson Macleod products.
Now that you’re all set, may we be so bold as to offer some advice before you place your order? Check the spelling! Then check it again. Then get some mates to check it for you. Then check it one more time. There’s nothing like a rogue apostrophe to turn your sophisticated gift into a laughing stock.
As we like to look after all our readers, if you haven’t got £199 to spare then we think we might have a solution for those with shallower pockets. It’s called Wordle and it creates really rather pretty word clouds from a bunch of text you give it. Here’s one we made from Staggered! Now if you did one of those (based on your last 12 months of emails, or your friend’s website perhaps) and got it printed properly we reckon you could have a cheap but cheerful version for around £20. Bargain.
