Blog – Six Months For A Six Pack

admin Nov 2009 No Comment Bookmark or Share

My wife-to-be has an unhealthy obsession with Peter Andre’s 6 pack (in the video of Mysterious Girl). I want to surprise her on our wedding night with a 6 pack of my own, at the moment it is more like a beer belly. What type of exercises would you recommend? I’ve got six months and about two stone to go until the Big Day. Any chance?

You can achieve this weight loss through making an effort to improve your diet and taking regular exercise. Unfortunately, the current thinking about six packs is that some people are more genetically pre-disposed to achieving this kind of body so for some of us, no matter how many crunchies, sit ups and leg raises we do the chances of getting a six-pack are slim.

Many of the images that you see in magazines and the media are heavily airbrushed so don’t believe the hype. It is also tough to shift weight from around the midriff. The good news is that you’ve identified something that you want to do in plenty of time.

Start to make small changes to your diet immediately, try and eat better quality food, cut out some of the processed foods you eat, then embark on an exercise programme that is easily achievable to start with and that builds in intensity the better you get at it. Specific abdominal exercises that you can try include half sits, crunchies, leg raises and bicycle kicks.

However, you need to combine this with long slow runs to shift excess baggage – so buy an ipod and use the shuffle function! Your fiance will notice a change in your overall body shape, you will start to tone up, have more energy for certain activities(!), lose weight from your midriff and she should be very happy!
