And Breathe…

It’s been all go at wedding HQ for the last couple of weeks, so I thought I’d take a breather and update you all. With the realisation around Christmas time that a) this would be my last Christmas as a singleton, and b) there was only nine months until the wedding, I decided to give myself a kick up the arse and start organising in earnest, instead of moonily flicking through (evil) wedding magazines and trying to find my dress for cheap on eBay.

In a flurry of activity that frankly alarmed Mitch and took even me by surprise, we have now booked a registrar, given notice of our marriage, agreed the bridesmaids’ dresses, designed the invites and finalised the wedding breakfast menu. Oh, and booked our honeymoon to Mauritius. All before my New Years hangover had completely lifted. Phew.

I think my manic multitasking is the result of spending five years thinking about this wedding, getting clear in my mind exactly what I wanted, and then having to just… stop. I know organisation is important, but only complete lunatics start booking venues and suppliers half a decade in advance.

I’ve been so used to thinking ‘the wedding’s miles off’ that I forgot that it actually isn’t anymore, it’s really, really soon, and if I don’t get a move on I will end up a blubbering mess four days before the event, desperately trying to pull all the stuff together that I didn’t get a chance to do.

Sadly my procrastinatory tendencies are long established (I’m sure the 11pm commencement of a 5,000 word essay due in less than 12 hours about something that will never have useful application in the real world is not an unusual experience), but I will, from this day forward, make an effort to change this.

Wish me luck!

I know how you feel, I’m exactly the same, especially with essays! Good luck!
