50 Free Stag-Do Ideas
As Simply Red once mentioned, money, it’s too tight to, um, talk about. That’s why we’ve been racking our brains here at Staggered in an attempt to come up with some free stag-do ideas. Now, granted, some of these might be a little bit left-field (“30 – Give Blood” – Who to, Oddbins?) but they’re some of the best freebies going and should provide rich brain fertilizer for your own stag thinkings…
1. Comedy Gong Show
Manchester and London’s Comedy Store branches offer monthly gong shows, where you can test the audience’s patience with your comedy ‘stylings’. Sign up online at www.thecomedystore.co.uk, turn up, decide whether or not to get sozzled and put yourself through a real test. At best, you’ll find the next Jimmy Carr amongst you, at worse you won’t be able to get the mic out of the stand. What’s more, you can buy a DVD commemorating your moment of “glory”.
2. National Football Museum, Preston
The custodians of the official Fifa collection, and located inside Preston’s Deepdale stadium.

3.Go For A Long Walk
The UK has several pre-planned long walking routes which follow the coast, rivers and even historical paths. Best of all many of these are marked out so that you can stop at decent pubs along the way. Just think of the sense of achievement when you and your stags finally see Lands End hove into view.
4. Whitley Bay
The Blackpool of the North East, Whitley Bay is presumably where Newcastle stags go since the rest of the nation are getting stagged up in Newcastle. A little run down, but amazing scenery, and very stag friendly.
5. Go for a Swim
Locate your local beach or lake and hop right in, all freezing your knackers off collectively. Last one to die of hypothermia is a rotten egg (seriously, follow advice about currents/temperatures/etc)
6. National Media Museum, Bradford
Offers the opportunity to lark about in a fake TV studio and watch lots of telly(s.)

7. 5-a-Side Tournament
Perhaps you could even run this over a number of weeks with the final on the day of the stag itself.
8. Coventry Transport Museum
Britain’s largest motor museum in the birthplace of our transport industry offers an archive of hundreds of different motors, buses and bikes, to stare at for free! Parking is Pay and Display, possibly to differentiate your car from theirs.
9. Urbis, Manchester
Central Manchester centre of arts, but offering a cool funicular railway and recent exhibits convering Japanese Anime, the Hacienda and underground tunnels.
10. Snowdonia National Park
One of, if not Britain’s most beautiful region is carefully laid out to offer endless stimulating walks as well as plenty of anonymous local Inns to get drunk.
